It is to become a legal requirement for all technicians working in the fire detection and gaseous extinguishing industries to register with the SAQCC (South African Qualification and Certification Committee).

All technicians must register at one of four levels of registration dependent on their job description.

The SAQCC is appointed by the department of Labour to conduct registration of “fire” technicians.
